At the end of the sixties there were some dog fanciers, owners of Tibetan breeds, who had the intention to create a Belgian Club who would defend the interests of the Tibetan Breeds.
On June the first 1969 it was a fact and the Belgian Tibetan Breeds club was born, thanks to the Swiss Mrs Monique Stöcklin - Pöbé who was our mentor at that time
With only one Lhasa Apso breeder and one Tibetan Terrier breeder in Belgium and some Shih Tzu owners/breeders, Lhasa Apso an Tibetan Spaniel breeders in Holland and France the number of dogs was not so large. It was in the middle of the seventies that a second breeder of Lhasa apso was noticed in Belgium and in the beginning of the eighties a second breeder of Tibetan Terriers.
Meanwhile the committe of the club better knownd as the TRC (abbreviation of our clubname) was not inactive and organized the first clubshow at the end of the seventies.
Later on there followed other events such as lecture evenings with film or dia's, bbq with a little Show from puppy to veterans, walks etc .....
The TRC is also proud to inform that our Club was the first Club in Belgium who started with ring or show training at the end of 1985. This has been a great help for beginning show people and we think there was a large appreciation for this event. This activities brought a good atmosphere between the members and the commiittee of the Club.
After Belgium was divided into regions it was possible to create more clubs for Tibetan breeds but in spite of some splits the TRC has always had a large number of members and the good atmosphere between the members and the committee has given us the opportunity to celebrate our 40 th anniversary in 2009 and this event will not passed unnoticed. |
